“Pinching Out the Competition: Techniques for Improving Your Lightning Bolt”

In an interview with Dodge Ball goliath, Anthony Duran from Bakersfield, the steps of “Pinching” are revealed. A simple explanation on how to reinforce your throw 15 miles per hour faster, and making the ball more difficult to catch, are illustrated in the following steps. Besides grabbing the ball and making a fist, 1) you pinch the nipple of the ball (where the air is added) into what is referred to as a “fist pack.” This helps the dodge ball pick up speed as it is released. Though it takes time in perfecting the control of a thrown ball, and one might suffer through various calluses and bleeding fingers to do so, the sacrifice of gaining control is worth the costs of some minor skin irritation. Once throwing the ball in the pinching position becomes proficient, you can start perfecting different types of whips or curves with your throw. The key is to know what arm angle is needed for release when throwing the ball. If you throw overhand, 2) release the ball with your hand in a straight up and down motion. This will allow the ball to curve down. 3) If you throw side arm (right handed), the ball will curve to the left. 4) Throwing with your arm in a diagonal position will curve the ball down and to the left. Looking at Duran’s “Pinching” technique advice, one must also learn how to absorb these lighting bolts coming swiftly at you. If not, Zeus, the God of Thunder and Sky, will be blasting you, continually.
